New Orleans Saints Players Discuss Sean Payton’s Return

Posted by NewOrleansSaints.com on 01/23/2013 – 1:38 am

Below are quotes from New Orleans Saints players on the NFL reinstating Head Coach Sean Payton on Tuesday: Jacksonville Jaguars 27 - New Orleans Saints 24 (L)

OT Zach Strief:
“It’s a big deal for us. I think the sooner we got him back, the better. We expected him back in a couple of weeks but to get him back early will be really important. I know losing coaches and putting staffs together, it’s important to have him there. I think, more than anything, it’s a big emotional boost, not only for the team but for the organization.”

LB Curtis Lofton:
“It’s a great way to start off the 2013 season with our leader back. Everybody is ecstatic about it and it’s going to be good to actually get to talk to him. We are putting 2012 in the past and we are starting 2013 on a positive. I don’t know Sean as well as most of these other guys but I look forward to being able to sit down and talk to him to get to know him better as a coach and person. I am looking forward to this season.”

C Brian de la Puente:
“I think Sean is a great leader and to have a leader like that back is priceless so we’re excited to have him back. We don’t like going on the past and we like looking forward to the future. Having coach Payton back will really let us do that. We’re excited to have him back and we’re looking forward to the future.”

K Garrett Hartley:
“It’s always great to have your guy back. He means so much to this organization, not just to players but to fans as well. We’re excited about it and ready to officially start the 2013 season.”

FB Jed Collins:
“Everybody has been asking about it and everybody is excited. Our response is real simple – our season started today. It was a tough and long year, we learned a lot and hopefully we improved from it but we’re already looking at what’s to come.”
