Saints Commend Record Crowd
Posted by on 09/18/2011 – 11:35 pmThe crowd for the Saints-Bears game was 73,019, the largest ever to see a Saints regular season game in the Superdome.
The Dome’s capacity was increased by approximately 3,000 this offseason with the re-configuring of the Plaza level. The last home crowd this large was in the Saints’ final season in old Tulane Stadium, when 74,289 watched the Saints play Miami on Nov. 10, 1974.
Saints players commended the black and gold faithful after the game:
“The crowd was crazy. It was loud. It was awesome,” – Drew Brees
“With the Saints fans we were able to go out there and have some fun. These fans deserved it. They deserve that type of performance today,” – Jabari Greer.
“To come in here and hear this crowd and the way they were yelling, it was pretty amazing. For me, it’s the loudest I’ve heard it since I’ve been here and it was definitely a special night,” – Jimmy Graham
